Thank you (too)

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read my first post. I realize that I'm a complete novice to the blogosphere and as such am not exactly adept at capturing my readers rapt attention, but I appreciate y'all giving me a chance to entertain, and hopefully occasionally teach you something.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to revoke a previously made comment. After eliminating both music AND politics from this blog, I realized that I unfortunately have not nearly as much to talk about as I previously believed. That being said, this blog will NOT turn political, because politics divides far more than it unites, and it will instead turn more musical, since music almost ALWAYS unites people.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the video of Tom Morello playing "This Land is Your Land" at occupy LA? No, no, give me a moment to justify my inherent contradiction of not talking about politics. I may occasionally discuss politics, but I will NEVER endorse nor slander political candidates, and I will endeavor to the best of my imperfect ability to keep my personal politics out of here. That being said, I think this is an excellent performance and regardless of your personal opinions of occupy I value the belief that government should be questioned by individuals. I have always though it more patriotic to question than to accept, and even if you hate Occupy and all that it stands for you should appreciate The Nightwatchman's rendition of Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land."




For those of you who honestly don't care and simply want something absolutely beautiful to listen to, I present this.

First [Post]

Well, here we are. The moment that no one (besides me) has been waiting for: my first blog post. I can only assume that this specific post will be more thoroughly read from future readers hoping to get "caught up" on all of the seemingly profound things that I will inevitably neglect to say, so to you I must apologize. But, I'm getting carried away. Welcome, readers, to my first attempt at blogging. But first, a little housekeeping:

1) The title of this blog is in reverence to my favorite band, My Morning Jacket. I ended up having to choose between My Morning Blogette and The Daily Blog-a reference to the daily what- but the tipping point ended up being the URL availability.

2) This blog, contrary to its title, will not focus solely, or even predominantly upon music. That being said, as an ardent indie music listener, my love of pretentious rock and [insert obscure genre such as dieselpunk or mathcore] will creep through from time to time, even in specific posts dedicated towards music.

3) This blog will only very rarely discuss politics. I don't want to alienate any of my readers, and to be quite frank the next guy has generally been the same as the last guy during my lifetime, so I suppose it's somewhat of a mute point anyways. Actually, it might discuss politics- but not American politics. Fair enough? Neat-o.

So... in short, thank you for your partially rapt attention. Hopefully I will explore at least a couple of avenues that might interest you.
